About VilrikVilrik
Born from creative drive, fuelled by passion, carried by hands and heart
My name is Therese Vilrik, and VilrikVilrik is my creative sanctuary – and my professional life.
It is here that I collect everything I can't help but create.
I have a great creative urge. One that cannot be tamed. I jump from idea to idea because I love the immersion, energy, and freedom of letting something emerge. I am driven by passion – and I thrive best when there is a short path from thought to action.
My path into the creative world actually began outside of art. During my sports studies, I started my own training concept because my student job didn't allow for my ideas. So, I created my own community with events and outdoor training – without knowing at the time that it was also a creative process.
When I moved from Copenhagen to Lejre, something happened. I found peace.
And then I brought out my paintbrushes again.
After ten years away from the creative world, I rediscovered the joy of painting – and I realized how much I had missed it. I am an introvert. I need to immerse myself to recharge. And I do that best in front of a canvas, where I can process what I feel without having to explain it. My paintings come to life in that encounter. They are never planned – colors, moods, and forms emerge along the way, reflecting what I myself am going through.
In periods when life has been difficult, creativity has given me a place to be.
A place where I could find direction, without knowing the answer beforehand.
My paths have led me far and wide: from large brushstrokes to linocuts, and most recently to my graphic collection DK Art Wear – where art not only hangs on the wall but can be worn and felt in everyday life.
Everything I create is handmade and personal.
I paint my works, take the pictures myself, edit them, create the files for the printer. I built my webshop from scratch, designed my posters, clothing labels, and packaging. I have had every single part in my hands – and it shows.
VilrikVilrik is not just a shop. It is a universe.
A place where you can find art – and perhaps find a little more of yourself.
Welcome.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have a studio that one can visit?
Not right now. I used to have a studio in Lejre, but the building was sold. Currently, I work from home, but one day I might open the doors again. However, you can always write and ask if you'd like to meet about a piece.
Can I get a painting in a different size?
I never paint two identical pieces. But I gladly accept custom orders, where we can recreate the energy you fell in love with. Read more here: Order a custom painting
What paint do you use?
Acrylic. It gives me freedom and intensity, and I can work layer-on-layer without having to wait for days. And I love how the colors can be completely pure – or merge into one.
Are you a trained artist?
No. I have a master's degree in sports science – and I've always had an unstoppable urge to create. I'm a self-taught artist, and my hands have found their way to the paintbrush throughout life, not through schooling. It all started because I couldn't help myself.
Why do you (almost) only paint women?
The women in my works are mirrors. Of myself, of you, of emotions, strength, and vulnerability. It's not planned – they just appear when I paint. They are both figures and feelings, and I believe we need more images of everything we encompass.
Why is the delivery time 3–6 business days?
Because my posters are printed on demand, and I personally handle the packaging and shipping of Art Wear and original prints. It's not a large factory – it's a small workshop with a lot of heart.
